Deep within Tanzania’s untouched wilderness lies the Kilombero Valley – one of East Africa’s most impressive and least explored hunting areas. Kilombero Valley spans more than 14,000 km² of continuous hunting territory along the legendary Mnyera and Ruhudji rivers, where some of Africa’s most sought-after big game species thrive under optimal conditions.
The area is especially known for its exceptionally strong population of Cape buffalo, considered among the largest and most dense in Tanzania. At the same time, the valley’s diverse landscape offers excellent opportunities to encounter lion, leopard, hippopotamus, and Nile crocodile. The many permanent rivers and wetlands create ideal living conditions for wildlife and contribute to a consistently high concentration of game throughout the year.
The landscape ranges from dense miombo woodland and lush river valleys to open grasslands, reed beds, and muddy wallows, where exciting stalk hunts for old dagga boys often take place at close range. The hunting area consists of several interconnected concessions, with large parts still almost untouched by hunting pressure. Each year, new areas are opened through an expanding network of roads and tracks, ensuring fresh experiences and new hunting opportunities for returning guests.
The best hunting season runs from late August to early November, when the dry season concentrates wildlife around rivers and waterholes, creating optimal conditions for a classic African safari.
