The Brodnica hunting district in northern Poland covers a total area of 9,690 hectares, of which 2,613 hectares are forest and 7,077 hectares consist of agricultural land, meadows, lakes, and rivers/streams. The forest is primarily composed of Scots pine (70%) but also includes a fine mix of oak (10%), beech (10%), birch (5%), and alder (5%). The terrain is predominantly flat, though parts of the district feature rolling landscapes, which, together with the rivers and streams, create a varied and inviting setting for hunting. Brodnica has 43 high seats, as well as 12 feeding places, and can accommodate up to 4 hunters at a time for individual hunting. Driven hunts are conducted with 10-12 hunters.
The district is home to roe deer, red deer, fallow deer, and wild boar. Every year, around 40 roe bucks are shot, with most having above-average trophy quality and opportunities for strong bucks over 350 grams. Bucks exceeding 400 grams net are also encountered. The red deer hunting is also attractive, with an annual quota of 8 stags – typically with antler weights of 5-7 kg, but also with a good chance of larger trophies weighing up to 8-9 kg. The fallow deer population faces some challenges due to wolves, but a good fallow deer hunt is still offered, with stags harvested between 2.50-3.00 kg. Wild boars are hunted both on individual hunts throughout the season and on driven hunts in the autumn and winter months.
There is also the option of combination hunts, where morning driven hunts are combined with individual hunting with a personal hunting guide in the afternoon/evening. If the weather permits, wild boar hunting may continue into the evening – note that using Night-Vision for wild boar hunting is legal. The parade typically consists of a mix of red deer, wild boar, fallow deer, roe deer, and foxes, and the district expects shots to be fired at any game that presents itself to achieve a satisfactory result (though not necessarily stags). This also applies to driven hunts.
