Distribution: Mato Grosso (Brazil), eastern Bolivia, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina.
Habitat: Wet areas, marshes and river plains, open areas with tall grass.
Description: Large deer (the size of a European Red Deer) weighing around 120 kg. It measures up to 1,15 m. over the shoulder and reaches a total body length of 2,00 m, without tail.The antlers are doubly forked. This is the biggest of the South American Deer.
