Scientific Name: Tragulus javanicus

Distribution: Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Kampuchea, Malaysia, Borneo, Sumatra and Java with bordering islands.
Habitat: Dense jungle near rivers and streams.
Description: Smallest of the three Mouse Deer weighing up to 3 kg and measuring up to 20 cm over the shoulder. It may reach a total body length of 50 cm. General colour rufous fawn to rufous brown, being slightly darker on the back. The face is yellowish fawn with black markings. The tail is whitish near the tip.
Hunting method: The locals use nets and dogs.
