Distribution: Southern China, Myanmar, Western part of Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, India, Sri Lanka, Sumatra, Java, Bali, introduced to Madagascar and Comoros.

Habitat: (moist) savannah and forest

Description: With a body weight of approximately 4 kg, it belongs to the smaller Civet cats. Body lenght without tail (43 cm), up to 63 cm.
