Royal Antelope

Scientific Name: Neotragus pygmaeus

Subspecies: None.

Distribution: Liberia, Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast.

Habitat: Dense high forest.

Description: Very small antelope (the smallest hooved animal in Africa) weighing around 2,5 kg with a shoulder height not exceeding 30 cm. General colour rufous brown with some white markings on the head and on the throat. The horns are minute, smooth and almost conical.

Hunting method: Pursch, lying in wait. Mostly hunted with shot gun.

Hunting available in: Not huntable at the moment. When hopefully peace settles in Liberia it might be possible to hunt it there again.
