Scientific Name: Hippocamelus antisensis

Distribution: Southern and central Peru, the Tarapaca province (Chile), the eastern Andes region of Bolivia and in Argentina, north of Tucuman.
Habitat: High alpine pastures (Almen).
Description: Medium sized deer weighing up to 55 kg. It measures around 75 cm over the shoulder and reaches a total body length of 1,50 m, without tail. General colour brown, with buff to white rump patch, often darker higher up. The antlers are forked.
