Northern Pudu

Scientific Name: Pudu mephistophiles

Subspecies: Pudu m. mephistophiles: Equador and Peru Pudu m. westmorei: Southern Columbia.

Habitat: Dense forest, swampy areas with tall grass, savanna up to 4.000 m.

Description: Small deer related to the Muntjak weighing around 9 kg. It measures up to 45 cm over the shoulder and reaches a total body length of 85 cm, without tail. General colour olive-brown with buff to yellow underparts and sides of neck. The antlers are small and pointed.
