Chinese Water Deer (CWD)

Scientific Name: Hydropotes inermis

Subspecies: None.

Distribution: England and France.

Habitat: Reed beds, grassland and bushy woodland.

Description: Smaller deer weighing around 10-15 kg and measuring up to 55 cm over the shoulder. General colour yellowish brown in summer and greyish brown in winter. The Chinese Water Deer has no antlers, but upper canines greatly elongated to form tusks, like the Muntjac.

Hunting method: Stalking.
