Mark´s base is in the beautiful Kwa-Zulu Natal in the eastern part of South Africa, rather close to the border of Swaziland, and here he hunts in areas totalling 25.000 hectares. Besides that, Mark also has a fantastic area at Thabazimbi at his disposal (40.000 hectares). This area lies north west of Johannesburg.
Kwa-Zulu Natal particularly known for the very strong population of the beautiful Nyala, but besides that there is wide range of other species, from the small Red Duiker and Suni to big Buffalos and Rhinos.
The primary hunting districts in Natal are Mahlalela Game Ranch and Warmbad Game Reserve (Wagendrift).
Wagendrift is situated approx. 3½-4 hours drive from Johannesburg. It is a very open and hilly terrain, and apart from this one of the oldest game reserves in South Africa. Since it is so open, you really see a lot of game !
Mark´s own hunting district, Mahlalela, is situated approx. 6 hours drive from Johannesburg in the northern part of Kwa-Zulu Natal (or 2 hours from Wagendrift). It is a beautiful area with high mountains and lush valleys, and with an impressive population of game, with the possibility for very big trophies.
It is of course possible to combine the two very different hunting areas. Actually you normally get 1-2 hunting days at Wagendrift and 3-4 hunting days at Mahlalela, when you book 5 hunting days with Mark Dedekind Safaris in Natal.
Our hunters are being met in Johannesburg airport and driven to and from the hunting areas.
