As far as mountain hunters are concerned, here we can offer 2 different hunting districts. The first district, the Hautes-Pyrenees, lies south west of Toulouse in the 65th Departement close to the well known town of Lourdes. Here the hunting season is from 15th October to 15th November, and it is only possible to hunt on Saturdays and Sundays. The second district, the Pyrenees Orientales, lies south east of Toulouse in the 66th Departement, close to the town of Perpignan.
Here the hunting season for chamois is from 15th October until the end of February, and here it’s possible to hunt every day of the week.
Wether you hunt in one district or the other, you will be hunting in the beautiful Pyrenees mountains. Here you will find a really good population of chamois, and as hunting pressure is low, you can also expect a goof Pyrenees chamois trophy, and at a price significantly lower than that you will find on the Spanish side of the Pyrenees.
The best period for hunting here is form mid-October to the end of November, which is the chamois’ rutting season.
Hunting is for both bucks and does (male and females are both trophy-bearing). Generally only mature animals of at least 8 years of age are hunted. Medal winning trophies are taken here annually (bronze and silver).
