Soay Sheep

Scientific Name: Ovis aries

Subspecies: The Soay sheep is a breed of domestic sheep, descended from a population of feral sheep on the Scottish island of Soay.

Distribution: Introduced from the Isle of Soay to a number of other sites in the United Kingdom.

Habitat: n/a

Description: Physically similar to the wild ancestors of domestic sheep. Smaller than modern sheep, commonly blonde or dark brown but sometimes black in colour. Buffish white underbelly. It carries backwards curving horns.
