Reedbuck, Mountain

Scientific Name: Redunca fulvorufula

Subspecies: We use Asell's classifying which recognizes 3 subspecies: Chanler's Mountain Reedbuck (Redunca f. chanleri) Redunca f. adamauae (this species has not a common name, and very little is known about it.).

Distribution: Mountain Reedbuck: South Africa Chanler's Mountain Reedbuck: Tanzania, Kenya and Ethiopia. Redunca f. adamauae: Cameroun and possibly Nigeria.

Habitat: Broken hilly country and mountains either stony, with bushes and trees or grassy.

Description: The three species are here described as one, as their individual differences are negligent: General colour of the Mountain Reedbuck is greyish fawn, brighter and largely tinged with rufous on the neck and head and it does not have the white spot under the chin which is found on the Southern Reedbuck and Bohor Reedbuck. The horns are black and slender, evenly curved upwards and forwards, ridged.
