Red Brockett

Scientific Name: Mazama americana

Subspecies: A total of 14 subspecies have been described, but due to the uncertainty of their individual status, we do not describe them here.

Distribution: From Mexico to the central regions of South America, including northern Argentina.

Habitat: Dense forests on plains and in mountains.

Description: Medium sized deer (almost the size of the Roe-deer), weighing up to 21 kg. It measures around 70 cm over the shoulder and reaches a total body length of 1,30 m, without tail. The antlers are small and pointed.

Hunting method: Stalking, with dogs.
