Mouflon (South America)

Scientific Name: Ovis musimon

Subspecies: None.

Habitat: Rocky forests in mountainous terrain.

Description: The smallest of the wild sheep, the Moufflon weighs around 60 kg. It measures up to 80 cm over the shoulder. General colour dark brown, underparts and rump white. Black markings in the transition between dark brown and white. In winter the ram has a distinct, greyish white "saddle". Mature male horns curl in almost one full revolution (up to 85 cm). The female has smaller horns.

Hunting method: Stalking and lying in wait.
