Coyote

Scientific Name: Canis latrans

Subspecies: A total of 19 different subspecies are recorded, but due to the uncertainty of their individual status, none are included here.

Distribution: Semi-desert regions from Alaska to Nicaragua in the South.

Habitat: Prairie, open forests, bush.

Description: Medium sized dog-like animal weighing around 15 kg and measuring up to 40 cm over the shoulder, reaching a body length, without tail, of 90 cm. General colour grey or rufous grey with rufous paws and ears. Unterparts whitish.

Hunting method: Stalking, lying in wait by bait, with dogs, traps.

Hunting available in: All areas of distribution. Mostly as a side trophy when hunting for other game.
