On our black bear hunts we focus on well organised, high quality, exciting hunting in good hunting districts. We are therefore proud to offer hunting with our experienced and very reliable partners Covert Outfitting, who have two large hunting districts in British Columbia. The most northern hunting district can be found east of the town of Prince George, while the other hunting district is located north east of the city of Vancouver in the southern part of British Columbia.
The hunting districts consist of mountain ranges and valleys, with many rivers, and all offer hunting in incredibly beautiful scenery. These hunting districts are also home really good populations of black bears. Although, as the name suggests, black bears are usually black in colours, colour variants do occur with coats that are brown in colour. The average size of the bears shot here is 6-6.5 feet, although a few bears can grow to 7 feet in height!
The hunt takes the form of spot and stalk, our hunters will be transport around the enormous hunting district in 4WD vehicles, ATV´s or boats. You will leave camp in the early morning to start your hunt, to give yourself the opportunity of reaching a good, strategically placed spot, from where it is possible to spot bears in good time. Once a bear has been spotted, the hunter and their guide, will evaluate the bear, to decide if it is big enough and its pelt is of a good quality. If it is, the exciting stalk will begin, and you will attempt to get yourselves into a good position, from which you can take a safely take your shot.
Depending on where you shoot your bear, it will either be skinned on the spot, or if possible it will be taken back to camp to be skinned. All this will, of course, be taken care of by your experienced guide.
The hunt will take place over 5-6 hunting days, normally from Monday to - Saturday. Our hunters should, if possible, arrived on the Sunday. The outfitter will meet them in the airport, and transfer them either to the hunting district, or a nearby hotel, from where they will proceed to the hunting camp the next morning.
Day 1: Arrival at the airport where you will meet the outfitter
Day 2: Transfer to the hunting district and begin hunting
Days 3-6: Hunting
Day 7: Transfer back to the airport for you homeward journey
