Wild Boar (South America)

Scientific Name: Sus scrofa

Subspecies: None.

Distribution: The Victoria Islands and Pampas in Argentina.

Habitat: Shrubby areas on the Pampas, forests.

Description: Large pig, with a compact body and short stocky legs. It weighs up to 300 kg and measures up to 120 cm over the shoulder. Reaches a total body length of max 180 cm. Dark, bristly pelage. Upwardly pointing upper canine tusks in male only. Summer coat of bristly guard hairs, relatively long and dense, winter coat dense, longer hair, with thick underfur. The tusks of the male have life long growth.

Hunting method: Individual hunting and occationally small driven hunt.
